Bethesda Big Train Summer Camp
The Bethesda Big Train Summer Baseball Camp returns for its 23rd summer of fun and affordable summer baseball camp for girls and boys aged 5-12. Big Train Manager and Director of Baseball Operations Sal Colangelo has been named the Maryland State Amateur Coach of the Year and the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League (CRCBL) Manager of the Year by the Maryland State Association of Baseball Coaches. He has led Big Train to nine CRCBL titles, including five straight from 2016-2021, and was inducted into the Cal Ripken League Hall of Fame in the 2019 inaugural class. Big Train Associate Head Coach Galvin Morris will help direct the camp with Sal. Coaches Sal and Galvin, along with their star-studded roster, will be the instructors each week, teaching kids the FUNdamentals of baseball. The best collegiate baseball talent from across the country comes to play for Big Train. More than 150 Big Train alumni have been drafted by Major League teams to play professional baseball, including 16 who have made it to the major leagues.
All campers will receive excellent instruction in all the fundamentals of the game as well as the opportunity to play in a live game each day. Along with our General Camp, we also offer specialized camp sessions including Pitching Camp and Advanced Camp, both of which are for older and more experienced 9-12 year olds.
Every camper will receive an official Big Train Summer Camp t-shirt that will get them free admission to all Big Train home games at Shirley Povich Field during the 2022 regular season. Tickets should be reserved online in advance of each game.

General Camp: All campers will receive instruction on the fundamentals of the game through drills and play in live games throughout the week. The session is designed for players of all skill levels from beginner to advanced. Campers will work on a mix of drills including bunting, fielding, throwing, hitting and catching, while also playing fun games that help with hand-eye coordination and agility. All campers will receive an official Big Train Summer Camp T-Shirt that entitles the camper to free admission to all Big Train regular season home games played at Shirley Povich Field in 2022. Ages 5-12. 9 am–3 pm. $320.
Advanced Development Camp: This session is designed for kids who play Select or Travel baseball. All campers will receive instruction on the fundamentals of the game as well as more advanced training. Campers will have the chance to play in live game action with teams selected by the counselors. Campers will work on rundowns, cutoffs, reading the ball off the bat, and baserunning techniques. While this session is more advanced, campers will participate in competitive games to work on hand-eye coordination and agility. This session is limited to 24 campers. All campers will receive an official Big Train Summer Camp T-Shirt that entitles the camper to free admission to all Big Train regular season home games player at Shirley Povich Field in 2022. Ages 9-12. Morning Only (9 am–12 pm). $250
Pitching Camp: This session is designed for kids who want to focus specifically on pitching, whether they have been pitching for years or are just now getting started. All campers receive highly specialized training that includes work on stamina, throwing motion, strength and balance. This session is limited to 24 campers. All campers will receive an official Big Train Summer Camp T-Shirt that entitles the camper to free admission to all Big Train regular season home games played at Shirley Povich Field in 2022. (Note: Pitching Camp will not meet on Wednesdays to prevent the risk of campers straining their arms. Campers are encouraged to attend General Camp on Wednesday afternoon.) Ages 9-12. Afternoon Only (1–3 pm). $225.

Age should be between 5 and 12 as of June 20th, 2022
Registrants who cancel their camp registration 30 days or more prior to the start of their camp session are entitled to a full refund, minus a $25 administrative fee. Registrants who cancel less than 30 days before the start of their camp session can either receive a credit for an equivalent 2023 Big Train camp registration or make their registration payment a tax-deductible donation to Big Train.
Registrants who change their camp session less than two weeks prior to the start of either week of camp will be charged a $25 administrative fee.
If Big Train Summer Camp is cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, registrants will receive a full refund.
Each camper's parent or legal guardian must sign the waiver below before they are eligible to participate in Bethesda Big Train Summer Camp.
